UK: SUPERMARKETS TO LOSE GB[pound] 100M ON INTERNET
Article Abstract:
According to the chief executive of UK Internet consultancy E-Insight Group, Alan Taylor, inefficient Internet home delivery systems will result in supermarkets losing GB[pound] 100mn in the year 2000 despite a predicted rise in demand for Internet shopping. Mr Taylor says that Internet orders require groceries to be shipped around twice as much as usual to get them to the kitchen from the warehouse thus having a negative impact on the supermarket's Internet profits.
